Golden State Warriors To Play Preseason Game At Bismarck Civic Center
Parent Club Of Dakota Wizards To Face Utah Jazz On October 25; Tickets Go On Sale August 25
The Golden State Warriors, the owners and parent club of the Dakota Wizards, will host a preseason game against the Utah Jazz at the Bismarck Civic Center on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 (7:00 p.m. tipoff), it was announced today. Tickets for the contest, which is the first game featuring two NBA squads to take place in Bismarck since Denver hosted Minnesota on October 19, 2008, will go on sale on August 25 at the Civic Center box office and Ticketmaster.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to bring preseason NBA basketball back to Bismarck,” said Warriors’ Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Larry Riley. “The fans in the region have always supported basketball and this will provide them the opportunity to see an NBA game and become more familiar with their new parent club, the Warriors. Our new ownership, led by Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, have spent the last nine months instituting many positive changes, including the purchase of the D-League Wizards and the hiring of Head Coach Mark Jackson, and the fans in North Dakota will have an opportunity to sense some of the new excitement on October 25.”
The Warriors, led by Co-Executive Chairmen Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, purchased the Dakota Wizards NBA Development League franchise on June 28, 2011, forming a ‘one-to-one’ single-affiliate relationship between the two teams. The Warriors are currently one of five NBA teams to own and operate their own D-League team.
In preparation for the game, the Warriors are finalizing plans to host a special event in Bismarck for the Wizards’ season ticket holders and corporate sponsors. Tentative plans for the event, which will take place in October, include appearances by Warriors’ Executive Board Member and NBA Hall of Famer Jerry West and new Wizards’ Head Coach Nate Bjorkgren.
