Santa Cruz Warriors Hold Skyforce to Franchise-Low 64 Points in Victory
Warriors Season Record Stands at 24-13


The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 86-64 Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at the Kaiser Permanente Arena.

The Warriors were led by Hilton Armstrong and Cameron Jones, who each scored a game-high 16 points. Taylor Griffin added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Darington Hobson grabbed a game-high 14 boards.

Sioux Falls was paced by Jarvis Varnado, on assignment from the Miami HEAT, who recorded the only double-double of the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Demetris Nichols scored 13 points and collected five rebounds, while Damian Saunders chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.

Santa Cruz opened the game on a 19-6 run, including seven points from Taylor Griffin. Sioux Falls responded, rattling off 14 unanswered points to take a one point lead at the end of the first quarter. At halftime, the Warriors led 43-39 and never trailed in the second half, ending with a 24-point victory.

The Skyforce’s 64 points is a franchise-low for a game in a regular season. Santa Cruz shot 42.0% from the field, compared to the Skyforce’s franchise-low 24.7%. Santa Cruz’s stout defense held the Skyforce to 0-of-23 from distance – the first time this season a team hasn’t scored a three-pointer against Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz won the rebound battle (58-56) and dished out more assists (24-14), while both teams forced 21 turnovers.

The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser Permanente Arena against the Idaho Stampede.
