Five Santa Cruz Warriors to Compete in NBA D-League Elite Mini Camp

Five Santa Cruz Warriors players and two coaches will participate in the NBA Development League’s fourth annual Elite Mini Camp, which tips off today and runs through tomorrow, May 14, at Chicago’s Quest Multisports gym. The camp features top 2012-13 NBA D-League prospects, giving players the opportunity to display their skills and be evaluated by NBA team personnel.

The Santa Cruz Warriors are sending the most players of any team in the NBA D-League. Mickell Gladness, Lance Goulbourne, Stefhon Hannah, Darington Hobson and Cameron Jones will represent the team, while Head Coach Nate Bjorkgren and Assistant Coach Vitaly Potapenko are two of the 10 D-League coaches who will run the drills and exercises during the camp.

“It says a lot about the type of caliber player we’ve had to have half our team at the D-League Elite Camp,” said Santa Cruz Warriors General Manager Kirk Lacob. “They earned it. It’s an opportunity to get out in front of NBA GMs and personnel scouts, and hopefully get on with a Summer League team or a training camp next year.”
