RENO, NEV.— The Tulsa Shock of the WNBA have named Jason Glover associate head coach. Glover served as the associate head coach for the Reno Bighorns last season, as well as during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 season. Glover spent the 2010-11 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA as a player development coach.
Glover will join Shock Head Coach Gary Kloppenberg and Assistant Coach Kathy McConnell-Miller. The Shock open their season May 19th.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with Coach Kloppenberg,” said Glover. “It’s a new challenge for me, but I’m excited to get on the floor with the Shock. The team just had a good draft, and I’m ready to start working with the young players.”
Glover was with the Bighorns during the inaugural season, when the team went 25-25. In his second season, the Bighorns finished 28-22 and made it to the playoffs. This past season, the team’s record was 21-29. “Coach Glover has been a solid contributor to our franchise both on and off the court,” said Herb Santos, Jr., owner of the Reno Bighorns, “His knowledge of the game and his ability to teach and develop players will benefit the Tulsa Shock of the WNBA. We are extremely proud and excited for Coach Glover as he continues to do what he does best.”
“I’ve enjoyed my time in Reno working with Coach Paul Mokeski and Coach Jay Humphries. Reno is my home and I look forward to next season,” Glover said.
