Reno Bighorns to Tip Off Season on November 29

Reno, NV, Aug. 12, 2008 – The Reno Bighorns open their inaugural season in the NBA Development League on Saturday, November 29 at 7 p.m. when they host the Bakersfield Jam at the downtown Reno Events Center.

The home opener is the first of 50 regular-season games for the Bighorns, 24 of which will take place at the Reno Events Center – and 20 of which will occur on the weekend. The team will play on nine Saturdays, six Fridays and five Sundays.

“It’s all coming together so nicely. I’m so excited for our first season here in Reno and, I have to say, Reno’s in for some real excitement. With all of the entertainment we have planned and, of course, some incredible talent on the court,” said Tony Funderburg, Chief Operating Officer of the Reno Bighorns.

In conjunction with the NBA, the Bighorns also managed to create a schedule that would not conflict with the University of Nevada’s men’s basketball team schedule. There are only three dates when the Bighorns will play on the same day as the Wolfpack in Reno – all Saturdays – and the Bighorns are committed to play at a different time than the Wolfpack once the latter’s schedule is finalized.

Also highlighting the 2008-09 NBA D-League Schedule is the All-Star Game and Dream Factory which is part of NBA Jam Session presented by adidas at NBA All-Star 2009 in Phoenix.

Fans can purchase season ticket packages for the Reno Bighorns games at the Reno Events Center now by calling (775) 284-2622 or logging onto RENOBIGHORNS.com. Tickets are available now for as low as $10 per ticket.

“We have 20 weekend dates scheduled out of 24 home games. I feel fortunate to have gotten such great dates through the Events Center downtown,” said Funderburg. “Outside of its affordability and family fun entertainment, we are really hoping for some big crowds in our first year.”

The Bighorns will also take part in the 2009 NBA D-League Showcase that will take place from Jan. 5-8 at McKay Events Center in Orem, Utah.

The NBA D-League will continue to have three divisions for the 2008-09 season. The Central and Southwest divisions will feature five teams, while the West division will have six. The Reno Bighorns will play in the Western division.

The Divisions for the 2008-09 season will break down as follows:

Central Southwest West
Dakota Albuquerque Anaheim
Erie Austin Bakersfield
Fort Wayne Colorado Idaho
Iowa Rio Grande Valley Los Angeles
Sioux Falls Tulsa Reno
Utah
