RENO, NEV., August 30, 2012 — The Reno Bighorns’ schedule for the 2012-13 season is set, the team announced today. Opening weekend promises to be the biggest ever, with the Bighorns opening their season at home and celebrating their fifth year in Reno.

The team will open the season against the Golden State Warriors’ NBA D-League team on Friday, November 30 and Sunday, December 2 at the Reno Events Center. Northern Nevada residents can look forward to a sports-filled weekend with the highly-anticipated Nevada-Boise State football game on Saturday, between the Bighorns first two home games.

“Get ready for a winter filled with high-level excitement and affordable fun on the basketball court for the entire family. This year’s schedule will not only bring high caliber basketball players to our area, but through the diligent work of both the Reno Bighorns front office and the NBA Development League, we put together a schedule which will not have any schedule conflicts with the Nevada Wolf Pack Men's basketball team,” said Bighorns owner Herb Santos, Jr.

One returning promotion is Kids’ Court Time, which will happen after every Sunday home game. All kids are invited to stay after the game and shoot hoops on the court with Bighorns players. The full promotional and giveaway schedule will be announced at a later date.

This season, the NBA D-League will be split into three divisions: the West, Midwest and East. The Bighorns are in the West division, and will be playing a significant amount of their schedule against the other four West teams, the Bakersfield Jam, the Idaho Stampede, the Los Angeles D-Fenders and the Golden State Warriors’ NBA D-League team.

“Fans throughout northern Nevada will be able to watch the best in professional and college basketball,” added Santos, Jr. “The upcoming basketball season will be one to remember and we want you there to be part of the action.”

The NBA D-League Showcase will once again return to Reno for the 2012-13 season, with the Bighorns playing an additional two games at home during the week of January 7-10. The final schedule for the Showcase will be released closer to the season.

The majority of the Bighorns home games will take place on the weekends, with only eight games happening during the week. The Bighorns will wrap up the regular season at home on Saturday, April 6.
