RENO, NEV., June 27, 2012 — Reno Bighorns Team President, Mike Reynolds, will attempt to walk 100 miles at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life this Saturday, June 30 at Reno High School, the team announced today.
Relay for Life is a 24-hour event in which teams and individuals come together and raise money to fight cancer. Teams take turns walking around the track for the duration of the event. Reynolds’ walk will be a fundraiser for the Reno Bighorns Relay team. He is asking for pledges of $0.25 per mile. If he makes his goal of 100 miles, every person that pledges will be donating $25 to the American Cancer Society.
To hit 100 miles, Reynolds will have to average 4.2 miles per hour over the 24 hour span.
“I know this will be a tough challenge,” said Reynolds, “but it will be worth it if we help raise more money and awareness for the American Cancer Society.” To pledge support, fans are asked to call Bighorns Community Relations Manager, Allison Beck at 775-853-8232 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. Fans can make a donation or join the Bighorns team online at renobighorns.com.
The Relay for Life will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday and end at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. In addition to Reynolds’ fundraiser, the Bighorns will also be holding a raffle at their camp site, and Bruno will set up his own kissing booth, where fans can get kisses and pictures with Bruno for a $1 donation.
“As someone who has had family and friends affected by cancer, I’m excited to be part of this great cause and raise money for the American Cancer Society,” said Reynolds.
