RENO, NEV.— A hot offensive performance by the Reno Bighorns helped the team cruise past the 66ers 105-88 in Tulsa. The Bighorns were led by Chris Ayer’s season-high 28 points and 7 rebounds. Terrance Thomas added 18 points and 17 rebounds while Cedric Bozeman came 2 assists shy of his first triple-double of the season with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. The 66ers were led by Brady Morningstar’s 21 points and 5 assists.

The Bighorns shot 55 percent from the field and became the first team to score over 100 points on the NBA D-League leading defense of the 66ers.

The Bighorns began the game fast, capped by a Taj McCullough slam dunk on two 66er players to take the early 12-4 lead. The 66ers would come storming back with fast break points, going on a 12 to 2 run to claim the lead. The first quarter would end knotted up at 23.

The second quarter would see the 66ers take control, leading by as many as 8 points off Brady Morningstar’s 13 points. The Bighorns would eventually cut the lead to 46-49 to finish the half.

The 66ers would maintain a lead through the first half of the third quarter, but the Bighorns would cut the lead with hot shooting. Andre Emmett would ignite the Bighorns’ run, hitting a three-pointer to take a two-point lead. The Bighorns would end the third quarter with a slim 75-74 lead.

The lead would grow fast in the fourth quarter with Ayer getting easy hoops near the basket for high percentage opportunities. Ayer and Emmett would continue to send the ball flush through the net, eventually pulling away from the 66ers.

Emmett would remind everyone of his scoring ability, re-signing with the Bighorns and providing an 18-point offensive spark in his first game back with the team.

The Bighorns next game is December 17th in Des Moines against the Iowa Energy, D-League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Hornets and Washington Wizards. The team returns to Reno to face the Idaho Stampede on December 21st at the Reno Events Center.
