RENO, NEV., September 6, 2012 — The Reno Bighorns will hold open tryouts for the 2012-13 season on October 6 at the XSI Factory outside of Salt Lake City in Lehi, Utah, and on October 21-22 at the South Reno Athletic Club in Reno, the team announced today.

The tryouts in Utah will begin Saturday, October 6 at 9 a.m. at the XSI Factory, located at 4425 N. Thanksgiving Way in Lehi. The tryouts will conclude the same day at 2 p.m.

The Reno tryouts will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 20 at the South Reno Athletic Club, located at 9393 Gateway Drive. They will continue on Sunday, October 21 at 10 a.m. and go until 2 p.m.

The tryout in Reno is on the last day Development league teams can schedule open tryouts, making it one of the last opportunities for players to be seen by D-League coaches.

Paul Mokeski, the Bighorns’ head coach and former NBA player, will be conducting both tryouts.

“We are looking for that diamond in the rough,” said Bighorns Owner Herb Santos, Jr. “Last year, we had four players from our open tryouts make the training camp roster and two, Reuben Clayton and Zach Graham, make our opening day roster.”

Anyone who would like to try out is encouraged to fill out the online registration form, which can be found at The cost to try out is $150. Participants must be 18 years old to try out.

The Bighorns are holding open tryouts in Sacramento at the Kings’ practice facility on September 14-15 and also in Memphis, Tenn. at the Memphis Grizzles’ practice facility on September 22-23.
