BIG FIRST QUARTER LEADS BIGHORNS PAST STAMPEDE

RENO, NEV.— Blake Ahearn scored a game-high 33 points, including 17 in the first quarter and the Reno Bighorns defeated the Idaho Stampede 126-116 Tuesday night. Memphis Grizzlies assignee Josh Selby had 23 points, six assists and five rebounds and Bobby Simmons posted 20 points and nine rebounds in the win. Marcus Banks led the Stampede with 22 points and four assists.
Ahearn hit 4-of-5 shots in the first quarter, all three pointers, as the Bighorns led the Stampede by 17 points at the end of the quarter and never looked back.
The Bighorns shot 52.1 percent from the field, including 53.6 percent on three pointers. While the Bighorns were outscored 58-30 in the paint, their nine offensive rebounds led to 21 second chance points.
The Bighorns will return from the All-Star break for a game against the Bakersfield Jam on Saturday, March 3 at the Reno Events Center. Fans can see Ahearn play in the NBA D-League All-Star Game on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. on NBA TV.
