BACKGROUND

Named the 1998-99 College Basketball Defensive Player of the Year by Basketball News magazine. Named to the 1999 NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team as well as the 1999 NCAA West Regional All-Tournament Team. Was Connecticut’s co-captain for three consecutive seasons. Played in a school record 134 games and was a starter in 100 of those games in final three seasons. UConn won a school record 114 games in those four seasons. Finished career ranked fifth on the UConn assist list with 510 (3.8 apg) and sixth in steals with 170 (1.27 spg). Averaged 28.9 minutes in four seasons.

As a senior, started all 36 games en route to UConn’s 1999 NCAA Championship. Was second on the team with 131 assists and averaged 6.8 points and 3.6 rebounds. Named to the NCAA West Regional All-Tournament Team. Named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team after scoring 13 points in first half against Duke in the national championship. Made 29 consecutive free throws during a 12-game stretch. Scored 12 points in a season-high 38 minutes against Gonzaga in the NCAA Tournament.

As a junior, averaged 7.5 points and 34.9 minutes. Ranked second on the team in assists (128) and had a 2.5-to-1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio (58 turnovers), tops in the Big East Conference. Registered 14 points, four assists and five steals in NCAA First Round victory over FDU.

As a sophomore, led the team with 152 assists (5.2 apg). Started all 28 games. Led the team with 48 steals and played a team-high 34.9 minutes per game. Ranked fifth in the Big East in assists and was second n the Big East in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1-to-1.0). Averaged 9.0 points per game and 11.0 ppg in Big East Conference games. Scored a career-high 22 points vs. St. John’s.

Completed freshman season ranked third on the team in assists with 3.0 apg. Scored a then-career-high 14 points, including 10 consecutive points in the second half of the Huskies’ Big East championship game comeback win over Georgetown.
