BACKGROUND

Early entry candidate for the 2002 NBA Draft. Played half of a season with Riverside (CA) Community College after transferring from College of the Sequoias (located in Visalia, CA) where he sat out as a redshirt in 2000-01. Signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Fresno State before leaving Riverside CC. Briefly attended Hutchinson Junior College in Hutchinson, KS in the fall of 2000, leaving school before basketball season began. Originally signed with Missouri out of high school, but did not qualify academically.

As a redshirt freshman, averaged 20.0 points and 7.9 rebounds before leaving the team in mid-season. Started all 15 games he appeared in. Scored in double figures in all but one contest. Set season-high of 33 points in the Citrus Tournament on Nov. 23 in a 78-75 win over Dixie State (UT), the eventual NJCAA Champions. Scored 27 points, sinking 7-for-12 from three point range to go along with four blocked shots against Cerro Coso on Dec. 6. Scored 24 points and grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds in the season opener against Southwestern in the Saddleback Tournament on Nov. 9. Registered 14 points and 10 rebounds against Long Beach City College on Nov. 10. Recorded four double-doubles on the season.

A highly regarded player out of high school who was ranked in the Top 40 recruits by many scouting services. Briefly played as a senior in 1999-00 at Centennial High School in Compton, CA before being dismissed from the team. Averaged 27 points a game at Coolidge High School in Washington, DC as a junior.
