BACKGROUND

Allocated to the Fayetteville Patriots of the NBDL for the 2001-02 season, but was waived prior to the season due to an injury. Participated with the Sacramento Kings in the Los Angeles Pro-Am Summer League , and with the Boston Celtics in Shaw’s Pro Summer League in 2001. Played in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in 2001.

Finished collegiate career 36th on Duke’s all-time scoring list with 1116 points. Was the first player in ACC history to be a part of five straight ACC regular-season titles. Granted a medical redshirt in 1997-98 after only playing in six games. Served as co-captain of Duke’s 2000-01 national championship team. Duke posted a 71-9 regular season record and reached two Final Fours (1999, 2001) during his five year tenure with the team.

As a senior, averaged 12.3 points and 5.2 rebounds. Started 29 games before assuming the role of sixth man at the end of the season. Led the team in scoring three times, including a career-high 27 point effort at Clemson on Feb. 7. Recorded 26 points against Texas in the TiVo preseason NIT on Nov. 22. Named ACC Player of the Week for January 8 after scoring 22 points at Florida State (Jan. 4) and 21 points against Clemson (Jan. 7). Scored 14 points including the game-winning tip-in against Maryland in the ACC Tournament on Mar. 10. Named to Third Team All-ACC and made the ACC All-Defensive Team.

As a junior, averaged 11.0 points and 4.5 rebounds. Started 33 of 34 games. Scored in double figures 22 times, with a high of 22 points against DePaul on Dec. 4. Scored 19 points against North Carolina on Mar. 4. Registered 14 points and nine rebounds against Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament semi-finals on Mar. 11. Earned Second Team All-ACC Tournament honors. Averaged 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in three NCAA Tournament games. Earned the Duke Coaches’ Award, given to the Blue Devil player exemplifying the commitment and values of Duke basketball.

As a redshirt sophomore, averaged 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 14.7 minutes a game. Came off the bench in all 39 games. Scored in double figures eight times, with a high of 12 points against Florida on Dec. 9. Registered a double-double with 11 points and a season-high 10 rebounds against Virginia on Feb. 11.

As a sophomore, averaged 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 6.8 minutes a game. Appeared in six games before sitting out the rest of the season due to a high ankle sprain. Was granted a medical redshirt. Scored seven points against Army in the season opener on Nov. 16.

As a freshman, averaged 2.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.5 minutes a game. Missed the first 14 games of the year with a ruptured tendon in his right thumb. Started once. Scored in double figures twice, with a season-high of 11 against UNC-Greensboro on Jan. 15.
