BACKGROUND
Was one of the final cuts in the Milwaukee Bucks Veteran Camp in 2002. Invited to the 2001 Sacramento Kings Veterans Camp. Drafted by Mobile in the 12th round (95th overall) in the 2001 NBDL Inaugural Draft. Claimed off of waivers on 12/24/01. Resigned by the Flight for this season.
Averaged 9.1 ppg and 3.6 rpg in 44 games (38 starts) during his rookie NBDL season. Received the NBDL’s inaugural Sportsmanship Award - which honors a player who best represents the ideals of character and conduct on the court – as voted on by the NBDL coaches. Led the Flight and ranked sixth in the NBDL in both assists (4.0 apg) and steals (1.5 spg). Ranked eighth in the NBDL in 3-point field goal percentage (.387). Holds the Flight rookie season records for points (387), field goals made (121), 3-point field goals made (23), free throws made (122), free throw percentage (.787) and assists (172). Scored in double figures 21 times (all w/ the Flight). Led the Flight in scoring seven times, rebounding twice, and assists 24 times. Holds the team record for assists in a game with 10 (vs. Mobile on 3/22/02). Finished his career at Rice ranking 11th all-time in scoring (1,300), second in steals (184), fifth in assists (348), third in free throws made (361), seventh in three-pointers made (107) and third in minutes played (3,482). Selected as the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year by College Insider as a senior. Also earned WAC All-Defensive Team honors.
As a junior, paced the Owls with 16 double-figure scoring games. Finished the season with five straight double-digit scoring games. Missed six games after spraining his MCL against Fresno State.
As a sophomore, started every game. Had nine games with six or more assists. At the time, his 57 steals ranked fifth most in Rice history.
Played in all 28 games as a freshman, starting the first nine games of his career.
Personal: Earned an economics degree from Rice. Looking forward to a post-basketball career as a teacher or as a youth minister because he wants to have a positive impact on kids. Off the court, likes to bowl, golf, watch movies, read and eat.
