BACKGROUND
Professional Highlights: Stokes played in 15 games during the 2003-04 Altitude championship season, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and recording 10 total blocked shots. He recorded his personal best with the Altitude against the Charleston Lowgators (3/9/04) with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Prior to joining the Altitude, Stokes was selected by the Westchester Wildfire as the 44th overall pick of the 2003 USBL Draft.
College Highlights:Stokes played all four years of his collegiate career at the University of Cincinnati, where he tallied 1,318 points ranking 17th on the school's all-time list. He was named to the Conference USA's All Conference Second Team and the NABC District 10 Second Team his senior season as well as named the team's Most Valuable Player. He was named New York's Mr. Basketball in 1999. Leonard developed into one of Cincinnati's top 20 scorers in school history. He the ninth player recruited by Cincinnati's Coach Bob Huggins to play four full seasons and graduated with a degree in social sciences, which he earned in three years.
Starting all 29 games in his senior year for the Bearcats, Leonard averaged a team leading 15.7 points per game. Stokes also led his team by shooting 70.8 percent from the free-throw line (131-185) and tallied a team high 37 steals on the season. He ranked second on the team in rebounding (4.8 per game) and assists (3.2 per game). Leonard scored 15 consecutive points in the second half as Cincinnati rallied to beat Tennessee Tech in November 2002. On January 20, 2003, he was named Conference Player of the Week.
In 2002, Stokes led Cincinnati to the Conference USA regular season championship
setting in addition setting a school record by starting 35 games. He scored
a season high 39 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against UCLA (3/17/02).
