BACKGROUND
Participated in training camp with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2004. Played with
the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons before
being released in October of 2003. Appeared in 12 games in 2002-03, averaging
4.8 minutes a contest. Scored a total of six points, grabbed six rebounds, and
blocked five shots. Played in 15 games as a rookie in 2001-02, averaging 5.1
minutes a contest. Averaged 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds. Season highs were four
points and five rebounds. Missed 11 games due to back spasms. An early entry
candidate for the 2001 NBA Draft. Selected by the Charlotte Hornets in the first
round (#16 pick overall) of the 2001 NBA Draft.
College Highlights: Named Third Team All-American by the Associated
Press as a junior. Was also a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection. Finished
collegiate career as the 17th all-time leading scorer in Indiana history with
1,406 career points , the ninth all-time leading rebounder with 748 boards,
and the tenth all-time shot blocker with 104 rejections. Sat out the 1997-98
season at Indiana as a redshirt.
Junior (2000-01): Ranked second in the Big Ten in scoring (19.0 ppg)
and rebounding (8.9 rpg). Scored in double figures 32 times and posted 14 double-doubles.
Recorded career-high 30 points against Michigan. Tallied 29 points at Penn State.
Registered a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds to go with four blocked
shots against Purdue. Notched 28 points and 14 rebounds in the season opener
against Pepperdine. Led team with 29 points against Kent State in the first
round of the NCAA Tournament.
Sophomore (1999-00): Averaged 15.3 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds.
Scored in double figures 24 times and reached double figures in rebounds ten
times. Posted seven double-doubles. Scored season-high 28 points, grabbed 13
rebounds and blocked three shots at Penn State. Named to the all-tournament
team at the Hoosier Classic. Earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors.
Redshirt Freshman (1997-98): Averaged 9.9 points and a team-high 6.5
rebounds. Started 13 times. Scored in double figures 20 times and recorded seven
double-doubles. Posted a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds against
Minnesota. Scored season-high 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds against George
Washington in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
