BACKGROUND

Finished collegiate career as the NCAA all-time leader in steals with 385. Played in 122 career games, starting 106 times. Was granted a medical redshirt in 1999-00, allowing him a fifth year of eligibility. Led the Big East in steals three seasons. Earned Big East Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-Big East honors his last two seasons. Was awarded the Henry Iba Corinthian Award recognizing the National Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2001-02.

As a senior, averaged 12.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 4.5 steals. Started 30 of 31 games. Finished second in the nation in steals. Scored career-high 26 points on 7-for-9 shooting against Austin Peay on Nov. 20. Recorded 20 points, season-high nine assists, and six rebounds against St. John’s on Jan. 12. Set a school record with 11 steals against Rutgers on Jan. 22. Registered 21 points, six assists, and six steals against Virginia Tech on Feb. 9. Scored 18 points and grabbed six steals against West Virginia on Jan. 30. Tallied 15 points, nine assists, and career-high eight rebounds against Miami (FL) on Jan. 19.

As a redshirt junior, averaged 10.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.1 steals. Started all 26 games he played, missing five games due a hamstring injury. Finished fourth nationally in steals. Scored 22 points on 7-for-12 shooting against Boston College on Feb. 17. Registered 17 points and season-high six steals against Massachusetts on Dec. 7. Hit a career-high six three-pointers and scored 20 points against Villanova on Jan. 31. Had a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists against Georgetown on Feb. 10.

As a junior, averaged 5.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.8 steals. Started six games before being shelved for the year due to a sports hernia and a fractured wrist. Scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds at North Carolina State on Dec. 4.

As a sophomore, averaged 4.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 3.3 steals. Started all 30 games. Led team in assists and steals. Finished tied for fourth nationally in steals per game. Dished out career-high 10 assists against Rhode Island on Nov. 14. Tied career-high with nine steals against Georgetown on Feb. 27.

As a freshman, averaged 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.7 steals. Started 14 of 29 games. Tallied 14 points and a Big East Freshman record nine steals against Pittsburgh on Jan. 10. Started season with 33 consecutive free throws.
