BACKGROUND

Played in Puerto Rico for the Carolina Gigantes in the summer of 2002. Averaged 4.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in 30 games. Drafted by the Fayetteville Patriots in the 8th round (#57 pick overall) of the 2001 NBDL Draft. Waived by the Patriots and was claimed off of waivers by the Huntsville Flight, but did not play. Has also played for the Austin Cyclones in the Southwest Basketball League (SBL).

Played collegiately in 1998-99 for Texas A&M. Was not eligible to play as a sophomore, and spent 1999-2000 season at Temple Junior College in Temple, TX concentrating on academics. Originally an early entry candidate for the 2000 NBA Draft, but withdrew his name from consideration before the draft.

As a freshman, averaged 6.0 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18.6 minutes a game. Started 18 of 27 games. Averages improved to 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in Big 12 conference games. Led team in blocked shots with 24. Led or shared the team lead in rebounds three times. Came off the bench to score career-high 14 points and grab seven rebounds in 17 minutes at Sam Houston State on Dec. 3. Scored 12 points at Southern University on Dec. 28. Blocked four shots against Iowa State on Jan. 16. Scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds at Colorado on Feb. 17. Scored eight points in 14 minutes against Centenary on Nov. 23. Was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.

Was a highly regarded player as a senior at Taft High School in San Antonio. Ranked as the top center in the state of Texas by Hoop Scoop. Averaged 14.3 points and 8.3 rebounds as a senior, and was named district MVP. Made First-Team All-Region and made the All-State tournament team. Recorded a triple-double of 27 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 blocked shots against East Central HS in 1998.
