BACKGROUND

Played in the Rocky Mountain Review with the Utah Jazz in 2002. Played in Shaw’s Pro Summer League in Boston with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2001. Spent 2001-02 season with Racing Basket Antwerp in Belgium, averaging 9.8 points and 6.6 rebounds in 27 games. Participated in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and Chicago Pre-Draft Camp at Moody Bible Institute in the summer of 2001. Is the son of former NBA player and coach Garfield Heard.

Finished collegiate career as the 19th all-time leading scorer in Penn State history with 1058 points. Also ranks third in all-time blocked shots with 107.

As a senior, averaged 16.0 points and 8.1 rebounds. Started all 33 games. Posted 10 double-doubles, including a 16 point, 10 rebound effort against Providence in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Mar. 16. Scored career-high 26 points against Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament finals on Mar. 10. Totaled 17 points, a career-high 16 rebounds, and five blocked shots against Pennsylvania on Dec. 2. Scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Indiana on Feb. 3. Tallied 24 points and seven rebounds against Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament on Mar. 8. Scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the upset win over North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Mar. 18.

As a junior, averaged 6.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in 25.6 minutes a game. Came off the bench in all 34 games. Led team in blocked shots with 39. Scored season-high 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting in the first round of the Big 10 Tournament against Michigan on Mar. 9. Registered 10 points and nine rebounds in the season opener against Lehigh on Nov. 22. Recorded a 13 point, 10 rebound double-double against Kent State in the quarterfinals of the NIT on Mar. 22.

As a sophomore, averaged 7.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 26.6 minutes a game. Started 14 of 27 games. Led team in field goal percentage at .568 and ranked second in rebounding. Led team in rebounding in six games. Paced team with season-high 23 points against Purdue on Jan. 6. Had only double-double of the season with 12 points and season-high 13 rebounds off the bench at Ohio State on Nov. 20. Scored 13 points on perfect 4-for-4 shooting and grabbed six rebounds at Bradley on Dec. 9.

As a freshman, averaged 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.2 minutes a game. Scored season-high 14 points in season finale against Minnesota in the second round of the NIT on Mar. 26. Tallied 12 points and four rebounds at Purdue on Jan. 7. Grabbed season-high six rebounds on two occasions, at BYU on Dec. 2. and at VMI on Dec. 14.
