Played briefly in Greece for Peristeri in 2002-03, appearing in one game and scoring 19 points. Played for the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA in 2000-01 and 2001-02. In 2001-02, appeared in 19 games, averaging 3.1 points and 1.8 assists in 12.0 minutes a contest. In 2000-01, appeared in eight games, averaging 2.4 points and 0.8 assists in 4.8 minutes a contest. Selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round (#28 pick overall) of the 2000 NBA Draft.
Early entry candidate for the 2000 NBA Draft. Finished two-year career at St. John’s as the 10th all-time assist leader with 302 and the fifth all-time steals leader with 167. His 2.6 steals per game average ranks as the best in school history. Started 64 of 65 games. Named Honorable Mention All-America by the Associated Press after his sophomore season.
As a sophomore, averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals. Led team in scoring and ranked 12th in the nation in steals. Scored 20 or more points in seven games, including a seven game stretch where he averaged 23.8 points a contest. Posted career-high 27 points against Virginia. Led team with 25 points against Pittsburgh. Tallied 16 points, seven assists and seven steals against Villanova. Recorded 22 points and six assists against Georgetown. Registered 14 points and eight assists in a win over Duke. Grabbed seven steals against Coppin State. Scored 19 points in the Big East Championship game win over Connecticut. Led team with 21 points in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Gonzaga.
As a freshman, averaged 13.5 points, 4.7 assists and 2.2 steals. Started all 37 games and scored in double figures 29 times. Led team in assists and steals while ranking third in scoring. Paced team in scoring seven times, assists 20 times and steals 15 times. Tied a school record with five three-point shots made against Hofstra. Posted first career double-double with 12 points and 11 assists against Duke. Earned Big East Rookie of the Week honors six times. Was a unanimous choice to the Big East All-Rookie Team and made the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team.
