BACKGROUND
Smith played collegiate basketball at St. Paul’s College in Virginia from 1995-1999. He led the team in scoring his senior year averaging 20.7 ppg, 10.1 rpg, and 2.5 bpg

As a senior he finished the season with 13 double-doubles and 24 double-figure scoring performances in 26 games. In his junior year at St. Paul’s College he led the team in scoring with 21.9 ppg, 10.1 rpg and as a sophomore he led the team in scoring (18.2) and rebounding (7.9). Smith was named Division II All American his final three seasons and is second in all time scoring in St. Paul’s history (2046 points).

Smith played for the International Basketball League’s St. Louis Swarm in 2000. The National Basketball Association’s Vancouver Grizzlies selected Smith in the 2nd round of the 1999 NBA Draft (51st overall).

He joined the NBDL’s Fayetteville Patriots on December 13, 2001 and wears jersey No. 30.
