Sixers assignees Lorenzo Brown and Elliot Williams lead Sevens' backcourt

The Sixers signed young guards Lorenzo Brown and Elliot Williams on the same day back in November. A month and a half later, they found themselves reunited in Reno, Nev., starting in the same backcourt in the opening game of the NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung Galaxy. Williams spent Saturday with the Sixers as they upset the Trail Blazers in Portland, then took a 6 a.m. flight to join the Sevens -- news that Brown said he didn't hear about until Williams texted him an hour before game time.

And on their first possession once action tipped off, the two connected on a sweet alley-oop that would set the tone for a solid afternoon: Brown finished with 17 points, hitting 3 of 4 from three, and dished out 10 assist while turning the ball over just twice. Williams carried his weight despite the hectic schedule, as well, getting to the line for eight free throws en route to 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Check out what they had to say about their performances after a tough overtime loss to the host Bighorns:
