NEW YORK, Jan. 2, 2010 – The 2010 NBA Development League Showcase tips off its 16-game schedule on Monday, Jan. 4 and runs through Thursday, Jan. 7. The sixth annual event will take place at Qwest Arena, home of the Idaho Stampede in Boise, Idaho and will feature all 16 NBA D-League teams playing two games apiece under one roof. NBA TV, the league’s 24 hour network, will feature seven live game broadcasts of the event, while the other nine games will be shown live, online, for free on NBA Futurecast at

The Rio Grande Valley Vipers, currently 9-3 on the season and in first place in the Western Conference, take on the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (3-9) at 11 a.m. MT in the opening game of the Showcase. The schedules for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday also include four games each, beginning at 11 a.m. MT (see full schedule attached).

Nine members of the last three NBA Draft classes are slated to participate in this year’s NBA D-League Showcase, including NBA D-League players Morris Almond (Springfield Armor), Joe Crawford (Los Angeles D-Fenders), JamesOn Curry (Springfield) and DeVon Hardin (Tulsa 66ers) and NBA assigned players Alexis Ajinca (Charlotte Bobcats, playing with the Maine Red Claws), Joey Dorsey (Houston Rockets, playing with Rio Grande Valley), Taylor Griffin (Phoenix Suns, playing with the Iowa Energy), Patrick Mills (Portland Trail Blazers playing with the Idaho Stampede) and D.J. “The NBA D-League Showcase affords NBA teams an opportunity to evaluate all of the League’s talented prospects in one location. During the last five Showcases, we have seen a number of NBA teams sign players both immediately following and during the Showcase,” said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. “We are excited about being back in Boise for this year’s Showcase and are looking forward to an action-packed schedule.”

The premier in-season basketball scouting event, the Showcase will welcome general managers, player personnel staff and scouts from each of the 30 NBA teams who will converge in Boise for four days to evaluate the league’s talent. The Showcase takes on an international flavor as numerous members of the international basketball community will also make the trip to Idaho to watch the action unfold.
