NEW YORK, March 20, 2012 – The San Antonio Spurs today re-assigned guard Cory Joseph to the Austin Toros, the Spurs’ NBA D-League affiliate. The assignment marks the 54th time an NBA player has been assigned to his NBA D-League affiliate during the 2011-12 season and is the third assignment for Joseph this season.
Joseph (6-3, 185) returns to the Toros following two previous assignments. During his first two stints with the team, he averaged 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 30.0 minutes, scoring in double digits on four occasions. He scored an NBA D-League career-high 16 points in a 111-88 victory over the Erie BayHawks on Jan. 10.
Selected by the Spurs with the 29th overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft out of the University of Texas, Joseph has appeared in 27 games for San Antonio this season, one as a starter, and is averaging 1.7 points, 1.1 assists and 7.5 minutes.
