Brooklyn Nets Re-Assign Tornike Shengelia to NBA D-League Affiliate Springfield Armor

Shengelia is expected to be available when Springfield travels to face Fort Wayne on Friday.

NEW YORK, Feb. 28, 2013 – The Brooklyn Nets today re-assigned Tornike Shengelia to the Springfield Armor, the Nets’ NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment is the record 134th of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, while Shengelia is one of the record 53 NBA players to be assigned to the NBA D-League this season.

Shengelia (6-8, 207, Republic of Georgia) rejoins the Armor having played in 13 games for the Nets this season, averaging 1.4 points and 4.2 minutes. In his previous two assignments to Springfield, he played in three games, averaging 28.3 points, 13.7 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 41.3 minutes. For his efforts, he was named NBA D-League Performer of the Week on Jan. 28. Originally selected 54th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, he was then traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

He is expected to join the Armor today and be available on Friday, March 1 when the team travels to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 7:30 p.m. ET.
