NBA D-League to Hold Fifth-Annual Elite Mini Camp in Chicago on May 12-13

37 players will participate, including Reno's DeQuan Jones, Idaho's CJ Leslie and Sioux Falls' DeAndre Liggins

New York, May 8, 2014 -- The NBA Development League will hold its fifth-annual Elite Mini Camp on Monday, May 12 and Tuesday May 13 at Chicago’s Quest Multisports gym. The camp features top 2013-14 NBA D-League prospects and gives players an opportunity to display their skills and be evaluated by NBA team personnel in advance of NBA Summer Leagues and 2014 training camps.

The two-day event features both drill work and full-court games for players to comprehensively showcase their talents. NBA front office executives and scouts are expected to be on hand to evaluate the talent, as NBA teams look to fill their rosters for Summer League and training camp.

This year’s 37-player event includes six players with NBA experience, including Shane Edwards (Canton Charge), Jeff Foote (Springfield Armor), Terrell Harris (Bakersfield Jam), Dennis Horner (Bakersfield Jam), DeQuan Jones (Reno Bighorns) and DeAndre Liggins (Sioux Falls Skyforce). Matt Bouldin (Fort Wayne Mad Ants) will also attend the camp having recently been crowned an NBA D-League Champion with the Mad Ants.

Twenty-seven athletes who participated in last year’s NBA D-League Elite Mini Camp went on to play in NBA Summer League in Orlando or Las Vegas, while eight of those players earned NBA training camp invitations. Tour’e Murry and Hollis Thompson, who both played at the 2013 NBA D-League Elite Mini Camp, spent the entire 2013-14 season in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers, respectively.

The event, which is closed to the public, has previously been held in Los Angeles (2009), Chantilly, Va (2010), and Chicago (2012, 2013).
