James Anderson Signs With Houston Rockets, Receives His Second Call-Up Of Season

Anderson, who started the year with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers before signing with the San Antonio Spurs, now heads to the Vipers' NBA affiliate.

NEW YORK, Jan. 2, 2013 The Houston Rockets today signed guard James Anderson for the 10th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2012-13 NBA Development League season. This is the second GATORADE Call-up for Anderson this season and he joins more than 100 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on NBA rosters.

Anderson (6-6, 215, Oklahoma State), who was selected by San Antonio with the 20th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, re-signed with the Spurs on Nov. 21, 2012 and appeared in 10 games this season, averaging 3.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9.4 minutes per game. He recorded a season-high nine points and four rebounds on Nov. 29 at Miami. He was waived by the Spurs on Dec. 20.

A member of the Atlanta Hawks during the 2012 NBA preseason, Anderson appeared in six games and averaged 2.0 points and 10.7 minutes. He appeared in two preseason games for the Vipers this year, scoring 32 points in 46 minutes.

Anderson is expected to join the Rockets today and be available when the team hosts the New Orleans Hornets tonight at 8 P.M EST.
