Bakersfield Jam Managing Partner David Higdon Named Executive of the Year
NEW YORK, May 22, 2012 – Bakersfield Jam Managing Partner David Higdon is the recipient of the 2012 NBA Development League Team Executive of the Year Award, it was announced today by NBA Development League President Dan Reed. The NBA Development League Team Executive of the Year is determined by peer voting and teams are not allowed to vote for themselves.
"The NBA D-League is pleased to recognize David Higdon with the Team Executive of the Year Award in honor of his extraordinary accomplishments this season," said Reed. "David, along with his wife Jacki and the entire Bakersfield Jam organization, represent the best that the NBA D-League has to offer through their strong commitment to the entire Bakersfield area, their innovative leadership, their exemplary customer service and their excellence on the court. Through David’s vision, the Jam has become one of the NBA D-League’s most successful organizations and a valued contributor to the Bakersfield community.”
Under Higdon’s leadership, the Jam reached the NBA D-League Playoffs presented by BBVA for a second consecutive year advancing to the second round for the first time in the franchise’s history as three players earned All NBA D-League honors this season. Through its innovative, multipurpose Jam Events Center, Higdon has created a destination for business leaders forging partnerships with over 45 local companies stretching across a wide spectrum of year-round marketing opportunities, involving NBA D-League games, entertainment events, and community service initiatives, and resulting in one of the highest renewal rates in the league.
Recognizing the value of education, Higdon has also created the Bakersfield Jam Education Foundation as the cornerstone of the team’s community service initiative. By teaming up with corporate partners and local leaders, the team has created an after school program for students involving Jam players and staff by providing educational incentives. The foundation was the recipient of the Golden Apple Award, the state’s highest honor presented by the Association of California School Administrators.

Bert Garcia of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers received the 2011 NBA D-League Team Executive of the Year Award, while Jon Jennings of the Maine Red Claws was the inaugural winner in 2010.
