Eddie Gill Earns GATORADE Call-Up To The Nets

NEW YORK, N.Y., Nov. 15, 2007 – The New Jersey Nets have signed Colorado 14ers’ guard Eddie Gill, making him the first GATORADE Call-Up of the 2007-08 NBA Development League season, and the 91st overall since the league began play in November 2001.

Gill, 29, played four preseason games with the Nets this year and averaged 4.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 24 minutes per game.

“He was terrific in camp for us. He knows what we’re doing, so it’s a natural fit,” said Rod Thorn the Nets President. “He’s a tough, competitive kid. He’ll help us out.”

During his five-year NBA career, Gill has averaged 3.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists, including a previous stint with the Nets during the 2000-01 season. That season he averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 assists and scored the NBA’s eight millionth point against the Celtics on 4/15/01.

A 2000 graduate of Weber State, Gill was selected first overall in the 2007 D-League Draft by the Colorado 14ers. Gill has previously spent time in the D-League when he saw action in 35 games for the Asheville Altitude during the 2002-03 season.

Gill is practicing with the Nets today and will be wearing number eight.
