of the Erie BayHawks and Patrick Ewing Jr.
of the Sioux Falls Skyforce were today named NBA Development League Co-Performers of the Week for games played during the week of March 7.
Mitchell, a 6-7, 245-pound forward out of LSU who was in training camp with the Cleveland Cavaliers, led Erie to a 2-1 record on the week, averaging 23.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals. Ewing Jr., a 6-8, 235-pound forward out of Georgetown who was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, led Sioux Falls to a 2-1 record last week, averaging 20.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
Mitchell began the week with a 20-point, nine-rebound performance in Erie’s 101-92 win over Springfield on Tuesday, and finished with 39 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the BayHawks’ 133-126 loss at Iowa on Sunday. Ewing Jr., meanwhile, had 31 points, eight rebounds and five assists in Sioux Falls’ 91-76 win at Tulsa on Friday, and followed with 21 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in the Skyforce’s 115-100 loss at Tulsa on Saturday.
This week’s honorable mention selections were Dakota’s Christopher Ayer, who averaged 21.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in three games; Erie’s Ivan Johnson, who averaged 24.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.3 steals in three games; Idaho’s Luke Babbitt, who, on assignment from Portland, averaged 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games; Iowa’s Michael Haynes, who had 36 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals in one game; Maine’s DeShawn Sims, who averaged 25.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games; New Mexico’s J.R. Giddens, who averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games; Reno’s Danny Green, who averaged 25.3 points and 10.7 rebounds in three games, Sioux Falls’ Raymond Sykes, who averaged 19.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in three games; and Texas’ Justin Dentmon, who averaged 20.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists in three games.
