D-League Most Valuable Player: Kasib Powell, Sioux Falls

Forward Kasib Powell has been named the NBA Development League’s Most Valuable Player for the 2007-08 season. Powell, who returned to Sioux Falls on April 3, following a 10-day stint with the Miami Heat, was selected by a vote of the D-League’s head coaches

GATORADE All-D-League Teams

Sioux Falls Skyforce forward Kasib Powell, the 2008 NBA Development League’s Most Valuable Player and 2007 MVP Randy Livingston an Idaho Stampede guard, headline the 2007-08 GATORADE All-NBA Development League First Team. The squad is rounded out by Colorado guard Eddie Gill, Los Angeles forward Sean Banks and Austin’s Ian Mahinmi, an assigned center from the San Antonio Spurs.

Rookie of the Year: Blake Ahearn, Dakota Wizards

Guard Blake Ahearn, who earned the season’s 20th GATORADE Call-Up to the Miami Heat on March 21, following a standout season with the Dakota Wizards, has been selected by the league’s head coaches as the NBA Development League’s 2007-08 Rookie of the Year.

Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year: Bryan Gates, Idaho Stampede

Bryan Gates, the head coach of the Idaho Stampede, has earned his second consecutive Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year award as voted by his fellow NBA Development League head coaches. Gates will be honored by D-League Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel Chris Alpert prior to the Stampede’s final home game today at Qwest Arena in Boise.

Co-Defensive Players of the Year: Stephane Lasme, Los Angeles D-Fenders and Mouhamed Sene, Idaho Stampede

Forward Stephane Lasme, who earned the D-League’s 19th GATORADE Call-Up of the year to the Miami Heat from the Los Angeles D-Fenders, and Mouhamed Sene, the Seattle SuperSonics center who played with the Idaho Stampede while on assignment, have been selected as the NBA Development League’s Co-Defensive Players of the Year by a vote of the League’s head coaches.

D-League Impact Player: Morris Almond, Utah Flash

Utah Jazz rookie guard Morris Almond has been named as the first NBA Development League Impact Player of the Year for his contributions to the Utah Flash during three assignments in the D-League this season as voted on by the D-League’s 14 head coaches. Almond will be presented with his award by Shawn Respert, the D-League’s Director of Basketball Operations, at the Flash’s last home game tonight in Orem, Utah.

Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award: Billy Thomas, Colorado 14ers

Colorado 14ers guard Billy Thomas has been named the recipient of the 2007-08 Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award, as voted by the NBA Development League head coaches. The award honors the player who best represents the ideals of character and conduct on and off the court. Thomas, who earned in 2002-03, prior to it bearing Collier’s name, will be honored by the league at the 14ers final home game tonight.
