GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 9, 2003) – After just two seasons of competition, the National Basketball Development League has 63 players listed on rosters of 2003 NBA Summer League Teams. Forty-six of those players were on an NBDL roster at some point during the 2002-03 season.
Two former NBDL head coaches are also serving as head coaches for NBA Summer League Teams. Former North Charleston Lowgators head coach Alex English will coach the Atlanta Hawks summer league team at the Reebok Pro Summer League in Boston July 14-20 and former Huntsville Flight head coach Bob Thornton will coach the Chicago Bulls at the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue in Utah July 18-26.
Devin Brown, the 2003 NBDL Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year, is on the summer league roster of the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. Mikki Moore, the 2003 NBDL Defensive Player of the Year, is on the Seattle Sonics summer roster.
