NBDL Announces 2002-03 All-League Selections

GREENVILLE, S.C., (March 14, 2003) – Three players who earned callups to the NBA this season highlight the 2002-03 All-NBDL first team selections. Devin Brown was called up to the San Antonio Spurs, while Tierre Brown spent time on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster and Moore was with the Boston Celtics. In all, the NBDL has had 10 callups consisting of nine players this season.

Rounding out the All-NBDL First Team are forward Tang Hamilton of Columbus and guard Jeff Trepagnier of Asheville. Four of the five first-team selections are first-year NBDL players. Only Hamilton played in the league last season.

The All-NBDL Second Team consists of forward Derek Hood from the Mobile Revelers, forward Sedric Webber from the North Charleston Lowgators, center Ernest Brown from the Mobile Revelers, along with guards Nate Johnson of Columbus and Cory Alexander from the Roanoke Dazzle.

“The league appreciates how difficult it was for our coaches to come up with the All-NBDL first and second teams given the abundance of talent in the league this season,” NBDL Executive Director Karl Hicks said. “All 10 players represented on the first and second team had exceptional seasons, as did the honorable mention selections.”

Players earning All-NBDL Honorable Mention include forwards Larry Abney (Asheville), Damone Brown (North Charleston), Jason Capel (Fayetteville), Cedric Henderson (Mobile), Kevin Lyde (Greenville) and Terrence Shannon (Roanoke); center Jameel Watkins (Fayetteville); and guards Corey Benjamin (North Charleston), Omar Cook (Fayetteville), Lonnie Harrell (Huntsville), Terrell McIntyre (Fayetteville) and Brandon Williams (Huntsville).

All-NBDL selections were chosen by a vote of the league’s eight head coaches.
