HAYES, SUMMERS REJOIN RED CLAWS, SILAS ADDED
Anderson, Cooper Sidelined by Injury, Abrams Waived

PORTLAND, ME (December 26, 2011) - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that Kenny Hayes and Durrell Summers have both cleared NBA waivers and rejoined the Red Claws. The team has also added guard Xavier Silas, who joins the Red Claws under the affiliate player rule after being waived by the Philadelphia 76ers after attending training camp.

All three players are expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Red Claws take on the Canton Charge. To make room for the three players, Antonio Anderson and Darren Cooper have been waived due to injury, and Jamar Abrams has been waived. The Red Claws retain the rights to Anderson and Cooper, and both players will be eligible rejoin the team when healthy enough to play.

Xavier Silas, 23, joins the Red Claws after participating in the 76ers 2011 training camp. Silas, the son of 10-year NBA veteran James Silas, is a rookie out of Northern Illinois where he averaged 22.3 ppg and 4.6 rbg in 26 games as a senior. Silas spent one game BCM Gravelines Dunkerque Grand Littoral (France-ProA) this season before being invited to participate in the 76ers camp.

Hayes and Summers rejoin the Red Claws after participating in NBA training camps, Hayes with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Summers with the Charlotte Bobcats. Hayes, who was waived by Cleveland on December 22, arrived in Maine on December 23 and traveled with the team to Ohio. Summers, who was waived December 23, met the team in Ohio this morning.

The Red Claws, winners of two of their last three games and three of their last five, will face the Canton Charge tonight at 7 PM and again on Thursday, December 29 at 7 PM. The Charge, winners of their last two, are in third place in the Eastern Conference. The Red Claws will return to Maine for a pair of New Year’s contests with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The two teams will face off on Saturday, December 31 at 1 PM and on January 1 at 5 PM. Great seats remain for both games.
