Georgetown Forward Brings NBA Experience to Maine

PORTLAND, ME The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, today announced that they have acquired Dajuan Summers from the Available Player Pool. The 6-8, 240 lb. forward out of Georgetown most recently played for the New Orleans Hornets and attended training camp this season with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Summers, 24, began the 2011-12 season with Montepaschi Siena (Italy-SerieA), appearing in 3 games (4.0 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.0 bpg) before signing with the New Orleans Hornets in October 2011. He played 16 games for the Hornets last season, averaging 4.4 ppg and 1.4rpg. A 2009 2nd round (35th) draft selection of the Detroit Pistons, Summers played 39 games for the Detroit during the 2009-10 season, averaging 3.4 ppg and 1.2 rpg. In 2010-11, he played in 20 games for the Pistons, averaging 3.7ppg.

To make room for Summers on the roster, the Red Claws have waived center Brian Cusworth.

The Red Claws will look to regain their winning ways as they head to Erie to take on the BayHawks on Thursday before returning to Maine for a two-game homestand next weekend, Saturday vs. the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 7 PM and Sunday vs. the Canton Charge at 5 PM. Great seats remain for both games. The Saturday, December 8 game will be Toys For Tots Night, and all fans who donate a new, unwrapped toy will be entered to win a 2012-13 Red Claws team-signed basketball.
