Popular Guard Returns for Second Season in Maine

PORTLAND, ME (November 29, 2011) - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that guard Antonio Anderson has rejoined the team for a second season.

A 6-6, 220 lb. shooting guard out of Memphis, Anderson is known as versatile performer and a top defensive player. After participating in the Charlotte Bobcats 2009 training camp, Anderson entered the NBA Development League Draft where he was selected in the first round by Rio Grande Valley, leading the Vipers to the league championship in 2009 and earning a spot on the Western Conference All-Star Team. He also earned two NBA GATORADE call-ups during his rookie season by Oklahoma City, appearing in one game for the Thunder. After a successful rookie season, in which he averaged 16.5 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 1.3 spg in 48 games, the Lynn, MA native was invited to the Houston Rockets 2010 training camp before rejoining the Vipers last season. He was acquired from the Vipers on January 20, 2011 for Matt Janning.

Anderson appeared in 24 games with the Red Claws during the 2010-11 season, averaging 9.3 ppg and 4.3 rpg. In 41 total games in the NBA Development League last season, Anderson averaged 8.6 ppg and 3.3 rpg. Following the conclusion of the 2010-11 season, Anderson signed with Ratiopharm Ulm (Germany-1.Bundesliga) before moving to BG Illertal/Weissenhorn (Germany-ProB).

HOME OPENING WEEKEND TO FEATURE HIGH-FLYING ACTION, SPECIAL GUEST: For the home opener on Saturday, December 3, the Skyriders! will perform a special halftime act in their first performance in Maine. The Skyriders!, one of the top trampoline acts in the country for over 15 years and featuring Guinness World Record holders and international trampoline champions, have entertained millions of people all around the world and have performed for every NBA team. The Red Claws will host arch rival Springfield in the 7 PM contest, and all fans in attendance will receive a 2011-12 Red Claws magnetic schedule, courtesy of Norway Savings Bank.

On Sunday, December 4, the Red Claws will welcome popular Celtics mascot Lucky to Maine. The irrepressible leprechaun will join Red Claws mascot Crusher in entertaining the crowd. The December 4 game vs. the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, which is presented by Hannaford Supermarkets, will also feature a food drive to benefit the Good Shepherd Food Bank. All fans bringing a canned good or other nonperishable food item will be entered to win great Red Claws prizes. Tip off for the Sunday contest is at 5 PM.
