Deering Athletics Programs to Benefit from November 13 Red-White Game

PORTLAND, ME – The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced they will hold an intra-squad scrimmage at Deering High School on November 13 at 7 PM. .

All proceeds from the game will benefit Deering High School athletics. Tickets for the November 13 scrimmage, which will feature a performance by the Lady Red Claws dance team at halftime, are $5 and are available by calling 207-871-7126 or emailing DHSButler13@gmail.com.

“Deering High School is excited to welcome the Maine Red Claws to our gymnasium,” said Deering Head Basketball Coach Dan LeGage. “We are looking forward to a fun and eventful evening.”

This will be the Red Claws’ third fund-raising scrimmage, with Red-White games last season benefitting programs at Lewiston High School, Edward Little High School and Portland High School.

“We plan to make this an annual Red Claws tradition,” said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. “These fundraising scrimmages give our players an opportunity to get out into the community and come together as a team before the season begins while giving the schools a unique opportunity to raise much-needed funds for their school. Following the success of the scrimmages that benefitted Portland, Lewiston and Edward Little High Schools last year, we were more than happy to hold one at Deering this year. We look forward to many similar events in years to come.”

“I am so glad that we have the Red Claws as part of our Portland community. This is yet another example of their giving,” said Deering High School Principal Ira Waltz. “This inspires our young citizens to get involved and also give back to the community. They truly are role models for our youth. I sincerely thank them.”
