Maine Red Claws Activate Kammron Taylor, Waive Jermaine Taylor Due to Injury
PORTLAND, Maine - November 29, 2013 - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, today announced the team has activated guard Kammron Taylor in advance of the team’s match-up against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants tonight at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Taylor had been sidelined for Maine’s first two games due to Achilles tendonitis.
In a related roster move, the team has waived guard Jermaine Taylor due to injury. Taylor sustained a season-ending injury to his left knee in Maine’s 127-100 win over the Erie BayHawks on Nov. 24 at the Portland Expo. Maine's roster now stands at 10.
"Losing Jermaine is a tough blow for our team. Last season and in our two games this year, he has been a key player for us. He is a great talent and represents the Red Claws in an outstanding way. We all wish JT a successful surgery and rehabilitation, and look forward to when he can resume his career at the highest levels," said Red Claws Head Coach Mike Taylor.
A returning player with the Red Claws, Jermaine Taylor joined the team late last season before the franchise's first ever playoff berth. In eight regular season games for Maine last season, Taylor averaged 24.4 points, including a 49-point performance against Springfield, and 22.5 points during post-season play. The UCF product has career averages of 18.4 points 30 career games in the NBA D-League. A 6-4 guard, Taylor has appeared in 65 games in the NBA with the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings, with career averages of 5.4 points. Taylor was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers' 2013 Las Vegas Summer League team and training camp roster.
Kammron Taylor joined the Red Claws as an affiliate player after participating in the Boston Celtics training camp. The Wisconsin product played for Neckar RISEN Ludwigsburg (Germany) last season and posted averages of 13.2 points, 3.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds.
The Red Claws will return home next Saturday night as they play host to the Idaho Stampede. Tip-off is at 7:00 pm.
