PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws today announced that rookie guard Lester Hudson has been assigned to the team by the Boston Celtics. Hudson is the second player assigned by the Celtics to the Red Claws this season, joining forward Bill Walker. The team also has a third NBA-contracted player currently on its roster, Charlotte Bobcats center Alexis Ajinca.

Hudson, a 6-3 guard, has appeared in 13 games for the Celtics this season and registered season-highs of six points and three assists against Philadelphia on November 3.  The Celtics’ lone draft pick last season, Hudson was selected in the second round (48th overall) in the 2009 NBA Draft. A product of the University of Tennessee-Martin, he was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors during his junior and senior seasons.

Hudson will join the Red Claws on the road as the team faces the Erie BayHawks in back-to-back games Wednesday, December 16, and Thursday, December 17 and is also expected to be in the lineup when the team returns home to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants this Saturday, December 19. Good seats still remain for that game and may be purchased by calling 207-210-6655, online at www.maineredclaws.com, or in person at the Red Claws office located at 413 Congress Street in Portland. Fans may also watch the team’s road games live online by going to www.maineredclaws.com and clicking on “Watch Game” in the Courtside box.

To make room on the roster for Hudson, the team has waived due to injury guard Mario West. The Red Claws retain the rights to West and can reactivate him at such time he is healthy enough to play.
