RED CLAWS TO HOST
PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they will host a viewing party for the 2010 NBA Draft at Asylum, located at 121 Center Street in Portland. The 2010 NBA Draft will take place Thursday, June 24 beginning at 7 PM with the first two rounds televised on ESPN.
Boston has two selections in the first and second rounds of the 2010 NBA Draft, including the 19th overall pick. Like Charlotte, Boston could potentially deal for additional selections. First and second year players can be assigned to an NBA team’s NBA Development League affiliate. The young Bobcats, who traded their 2010 first round selection to Phoenix as part of the Jason Richardson deal, do not currently have any picks in the upcoming draft but could make moves prior to Thursday’s draft.
“The Celtics and the Bobcats have shown a tremendous trust in us to develop their players, and we were fortunate to have five NBA-contracted players assigned to the Red Claws last season,” said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.
During the 2009-10 season, the Boston Celtics assigned Bill Walker, J.R. Giddens, Lester Hudson and Marcus Landry to the Red Claws while 7’ Charlotte Bobcats prospect Alexis Ajinca spent a majority of the season with the Red Claws.
Asylum will offer drink specials throughout the night, including Gritty’s Red Claws Ale, and fans in attendance will be eligible to win prizes throughout the night. Prizes will include game-worn Celtics jerseys from the 2009-10 Red Claws’ Celtics Affiliate Night.
