17 Remaining Candidates To Go Through Tough Two-Week Trial

PORTLAND, ME - Seventeen remaining candidates for the 2010-11 Lady Red Claws dance squad have begun an intense two-week boot camp, under the direction of team coach Tina Kelly.

The team began training this week, which consists of 3 ˝ mile runs around Back Bay, workouts at World’s Gym and intensive dance training. The seventeen finalists will make their first public appearance at the Old Port Festival on June 13. At the end of the two-week session, the twelve top dancers will be selected to be the 2010-11 Lady Red Claws team.

“Being a member of the Lady Red Claws takes a tremendous amount of dedication,” said team coach Tina Kelly. “We pride ourselves on being one of the top squads in the league, and we are only half-joking when we say our team members are in better shape than the players. It takes an incredible amount of work and commitment to be a member of our squad, and this two week boot camp will help us determine who has what has takes to wear the Lady Red Claws uniform and entertain Red Claws fans.”

The Lady Red Claws participate in a variety of community and team functions and perform at all Red Claws home games. One of the hottest tickets in sports in 2009-10, the Red Claws sold out all 24 of their home games during their inaugural season, the first NBA Development League team to accomplish the feat. Season ticket prices range from $240 to $600 for the 24-game regular season. A limited number of premium seats are also available.
