RED CLAWS MAKE FINAL CUTS, WAIVE BLAIR AND CLEMENT
Team Opens Inaugural Season on Friday in Sioux Falls, SD
PORTLAND, ME (November 24, 2009) - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced Tyrelle Blair and Matt Clement have been waived by the team. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.
Tyrelle Blair, a 6-11, 242 lb. center out of Boston College was a 2009 Allocation selection of the Red Claws.
“We appreciated Tyrelle’s efforts during training camp,” Jennings said. “He is a talented player, and we wish him the best in his career.”
Matt Clement, a 6-7, 230 lb. power forward out of Maine Maritime Academy, was the team’s eighth round selection in this year’s draft. A former Maine high school and college standout, Clement was a hometown favorite among the Red Claws fans during the preseason. The career record holder for blocked shots at Maine Maritime Academy with 169, Clement also played in Ireland with the Belfast Star.
“Matt is a talented player and worked incredibly hard during training camp,” Jennings said. “Every step of the way, he gave everything that he had. We couldn’t have asked any more of Matt.”
The Red Claws will open their inaugural season this Friday, facing the Sioux Falls Skyforce in South Dakota.
