PORTLAND, ME
(November 2, 2010)
-- The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk
Chevrolet, today announced that they have extended invitations to 15 players to
the team’s 2010 training camp. The players will report on Monday, November 8
with camp opening on Tuesday, November 9.
Among the players is guard Mario West who rejoins the team after spending much
of last season with the Atlanta Hawks. Also returning to the team is the Red
Claws 2009 first round draft pick Paul Harris. Harris missed all of the 2009-10
season following an ankle injury. He will be joined in camp by fellow first
rounder Magnum Rolle, a highly-regarded prospect who was selected by the team
with the third overall pick in the 2010 draft.
The Red Claws 2010-11 roster will look much different than the inaugural squad,
with ten rookies among the 15 players. With nine guards, camp is expected to be
spirited as the 15 players battle for just ten open spots.
“We are focusing on youth and energy this season,” said Red Claws President and
General Manager Jon Jennings. “It will be a battle in training camp, with a lot
of players fighting it out to gain a spot. Our job is to development players for
the NBA, and this team will be young and hungry. We had good success with that
in our first season with our first call up, seven players invited to NBA camps
this season and four players on opening day NBA rosters. We are looking to
further that success this season.”
The players invited to the 2010 Maine Red Claws training camp include:
