Scarborough Athletics Programs to Benefit from Nov. 16 Red-White Game
PORTLAND, ME (October 14, 2011)-- The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced they will hold a fundraising intra-squad scrimmage at Scarborough High School on Wednesday, November 16 at 7 PM.
All proceeds from the game will benefit Scarborough High School athletics. Tickets for the November 16 scrimmage, which will feature a performance by the Lady Red Claws dance team at halftime, are $5 and are available at Scarborough High School, located at 11 Municipal Drive in Scarborough, or by calling the school at (207) 730-5000.
"We are excited to have the Maine Red Claws come to Scarborough High School to help us raise money for our athletic programs," said Scarborough High School Athletic Director Mike LeGage. "This is the third season that the Red Claws have operated this high school fundraising program, and we are grateful that they chose Scarborough. I think this will be a great opportunity for our student-athletes to see the preparation and work that goes into being a professional while raising some much-needed funds for our athletic programs."
The Red Claws annually hold 1-2 fundraising scrimmages during the training camp to benefit local high school athletics. Previous beneficiaries include: Lewiston High School, Edward Little High School, Portland High School and Deering High School.
"These fundraising scrimmages give our players an opportunity to get out into the community and come together as a team before the season begins while giving the schools a unique opportunity to raise much-needed funds for their athletic programs," said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. "The previous scrimmages have been very successful, and we are looking forward to a great event for Scarborough High School."
