Red Claws Add “The Claw Crew” to 2011-12 Game Night Line-Up

PORTLAND, ME (MAY 10, 2011) – Open auditions for the Maine Red Claws dance team, the Lady Red Claws, will be held at the Portland Expo Building on Saturday, June 11, 2011 starting at 9:00 AM. Following the dance team tryouts, the Red Claws will hold open tryouts for “The Claw Crew,” a cheer and tumbling squad, beginning at 1 PM. Both teams will be part of the Red Claws 2011-12 game night entertainment lineup. 

The Lady Red Claws, presented by Sun Tan City, are entering their third season entertaining Crustacean Nation. Experienced dancers interested in auditioning for the team should download an application for the 2011 tryouts at www.maineredclaws.com. The application includes information about the auditions and team requirements. Applications should be received by June 1.

The Claw Crew will be entering their first season with the Red Claws and will be a high energy promotional team whose main focus is leading the crowd. The Claw Crew will take part in promotions, pump up the crowd, and do acrobatics/tumbling/tossing during the game. Prior cheering or gymnastic experience is required. Applications for the 2011 open tryouts are available at www.maineredclaws.com and should be received by June 1.

Auditions will take place on Saturday, June 11 at the Portland Expo Building located at 239 Park Avenue, with dance team tryouts beginning at 9:00 AM and cheer squad auditions beginning at 1 PM. Participants must be at least 18 years old and be a high school graduate or equivalent. A $20.00 non-refundable registration fee and applicant photo are required for auditions. All participants will be judged by a panel consisting of local choreographers, coaches, Maine Red Claws staff and guests. Auditions are not open to the public.

The Lady Red Claws and Claw Crew will perform at all Red Claws home games. One of the hottest tickets in Maine, the Red Claws have packed the house for every home games during their first two seasons. Season ticket prices range from $240 to $600 for the 24-game regular season. A limited number of premium seats are also available. Fans interested in purchasing Hollywood, Gold or Silver ticket packages should call for 207-210-6655 for information. End zone seats, which are reserved for individual ticket sale and group sales, will once again not be available in a season ticket packages to make them available to community and school groups.
