Maine Trades James Mays in Exchange for Sioux Falls' Gabe Pruitt

The Maine Red Claws have acquired former Boston Celtic Gabe Pruitt from the Sioux Falls Skyforce in a trade that will send recently acquired forward James Mays to Sioux Falls.

Pruitt, 26, was a 2007 NBA Draft selection of the Boston Celtics (2nd round, 32nd overall) and appeared in 62 games with the Celtics over two seasons. As a rookie, the 6-4, 185 lb. guard out of USC was a member of the 2008 Celtics’ NBA Championship team, appearing in four playoff games during the team’s championship run.

Pruitt is veteran of five NBA Development League seasons, suiting up for 129 total games for the Utah Flash, Los Angeles D-Fenders and Sioux Falls Skyforce while averaging 10.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. In 34 games with the Skyforce this season, Pruitt has averaged 6.5 ppg and 2.6 rpg.

Mays averaged 12.4 points and 9.6 rebounds in five games (four starts) with Maine after being acquired in a trade with the Springfield Armor. He averaged 16.4 points and 10.6 rebounds in 26 games (all starts) with Springfield after participating in training camp with the Brooklyn Nets. The 6-9, 230-pound forward recorded seven points and 11 rebounds for the Futures Team in the 2013 NBA Development League All-Star Game. He averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in four seasons (108 games) at Clemson University.
