When Coby Karl was assigned to the D-Fenders on Nov. 28th the team won eight of their next ten (with a current six game winning streak); Do you think his NBA Experience (albeit limited) has helped him and the team?

I think that Coby came to the team and brought some silent confidence with him, and our team fed off of that. I believe that they saw his confidence and they became more confident, especially in the offense.

It is still early, but how does it feel to be in first place of the Western Division and have the best record in the D-League?

It feels really good to be in first place because wins are hard to come by but we realize that the job is far from over and we have to continue to get better because teams are going to be looking to beat number 1.

Early in the season the D-Fenders lost two key players in Jelani McCoy (to the Denver Nuggets) and Marcus White (season-ending injury); how do you replace them without the team losing a step?

We were very lucky to be able to pick up Stephane Lasme when Marcus went down and Darryl Watkins when Jelani left and I think that anytime you have an injury to your team that’s an opportunity for someone to step up.

This season with the new division alignment, you play every team in the Western Division eight times (four at home and four on the road) and every other team only twice (one home and one away). Do you think that helps or hinders the teams position for the playoffs?

No I don’t think the way things are set up hinders us at all; if anything it helps because we can establish ourselves in our own division by beating the teams in our division, and if we make the playoffs we will at least know our opponent a little better.

With the team’s early success, do you feel that some of the guys will be future NBA Gatorade Call-Ups?

Yes I do think that some of our guys will get call ups especially if we keep winning because NBA teams want people who are winners and willing to sacrifice and they will more than likely pick from a winning team.

Last Question: Will the New England Patriots go undefeated?

Yes, the Patriots go undefeated during the regular season, but one team can beat them if they have to play them and that’s the Jacksonville Jaguars because of their running game and the fact that they don’t turn the ball over and they have a great defense!!!
