This is the first D-Fenders offseason, what were your offseasons like when you were a player?

Pretty much working out all the time. I might take a week off, but you always wanted to get better, at least I did. I always wanted to get better, so I just continued to work out. Worked on my body, worked on my diet, and just make sure I’m eating right. I used to just work out and that was my summer. I didn’t really do a lot of vacationing or anything like that, because I was always trying to get better and trying to be the best I could at my craft.

What have been you been doing this offseason?

Most of my offseason is spent, I still play a little ball, but I work out a lot of guys out here (North Carolina). I spend time with my family and working guys out, that's about it. Basketball is year round for me, it was always like that and it's like that as a coach too.

With training camp less than two weeks away, what advice would you give to players entering their first training camp?

Come in, in shape. That’s it, because if you are in shape, you don’t have to worry about anything else; you’ve been playing so the playing part is easy. You just need to be in shape.

Can you reflect back on your first season as Assistant Coach with the Los Angeles D-Fenders?

I thought it was a great experience. It was a very positive learning experience for me. It made my confidence as a coach, it has grown. I just thought it was an overall positive experience. I just had a great time.

Coming back for another season with the D-Fenders, what are you expecting in year two?

I look forward to being more involved in game situations and just being more vocal. I sat back a little bit and watched things happen. I like to look and see what is going on. Some people open their mouth before things materialize. I kind of like thing to materialize before I put my stamp on it, that way you see things evolve. This season I look forward to being more of a positive, not that I wasn’t positive before, but a more positive and confident coach.
