Quote of the Week
"It's always good being recognized for your productivity. The main thing is we had three games last week and we won two out of those three; one of those wins was against the number one team in the league. So it's always good to try and catch up and gain some ground against that team. Other than that, it was just my teammates getting me the ball and recognizing that shooting the ball well; the shots just kept falling. It's a great honor."

D-Fenders Lead Blue Team to Victory in 2008 D-League
All-Star Game

After trailing late in the first quarter, the D-League Blue All-Stars rallied to tie the game in the second quarter and never looked back. Both teams D-Fenders at the All-Star gameplayed hard, ran all night, defended well to the end and put on a show for the fans. They saw tandems of teammates working together to score, fancy passing and plenty of highlight dunks. But behind All-Star M.V.P. and Fort Wayne Mad Ants guard Jeremy Richardson's 22 points, Blue had Red singing the blues in this, the city of jazz, winning handily by a score
of 117-99.

The victorious Blue Team was helmed by D-Fenders coaches: Head Coach Dan Panaggio, Assistant Coaches Chucky Brown and Rasheed Hazzard. Leading the way for the Blue Team were All-Star Starters Sean Banks and Jelani McCoy.

Chatting with the D-Fenders

 #19 BRANDON WALLACE

You've played for the Boston Celtics and three different teams in the D-League this season; how does it feel to be in Los Angeles now with the D-Fenders?

"It was just another opportunity. I go released in December because I fractured my wrist. I was sitting at home and waiting for something to happen and the Lakers called. It was truly a blessing."

 #14 ERRICK CRAVEN

What was it like getting your first start of the season for
the D-Fenders?
* Errick recorded 14 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in the
D-Fenders 115-98 victory over the Idaho Stampede.

"It was cool. It gave me an opportunity to showcase that I could play in this league and it was good just being out there and being part of the win against the number one team in the league."

Read to Achieve

The Los Angeles D-Fenders' Robert Whaley celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss by visiting the 5th grade students at Rosemont Elementary School on Read to AchieveMarch 3rd. As part of Rosemont's Read Across America program, Robert read his favorite childhood book "Green Eggs & Ham" by Dr. Seuss to all the students and then spent time talking and signing autographs with the students. The Los Angeles D-Fenders were proud to help in the community by donating books, pencils, bookmarks, and more to the students of Rosemont Elementary. The NBA D-League's Read To Achieve program is used to help build a lifelong love of reading in young people by providing greater access to books and technology and providing support to schools, community organizations, and other nonprofits as they work to encourage kids to read.
