EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA D-League announced today the first nine players invited to attend the D-Fenders training camp which will begin on Sunday, November 15. The nine training camp invitees include a combination of returning, allocation, and local tryout players who will be joined by those players selected in the 2009 NBA D-League Draft tomorrow night.

Lakers General Manager, Mitch Kupchak stated, “In addition to having players with NBA experience, we’ve also found talented players through our local tryout. We feel that we will be able to draft another top talent with the third overall pick in tomorrow’s draft and we are very excited about the upcoming season.”

Three players that will highlight the D-Fenders 2009-10 training camp are Joe Crawford, Gabe Pruitt and Michael Fey. Joe Crawford, a four year contributor at Kentucky, was the Lakers second round pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, scored double figures in 42 D-Fenders games in the 08-09 season. Crawford was called up to the New York Knicks in March 2009 and participated in their 2009 training camp.

Pruitt was an efficient leader, scorer, and defender for USC from 2004-07. He was selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft. Pruitt played the majority of the 2008-09 season for the Celtics’ D-League affiliate, the Utah Flash. He participated in the New York Knicks’ 2009 training camp.

Michael Fey, a 7-0 forward/center and former UCLA Bruin spent the 2008-09 season playing for Al Shabab (United Arab Emirates). Fey participated in the Lakers training camp in 2009. In one preseason game with the Lakers, Fey posted two points and one rebound in nine minutes of play.

The 2009 NBA D-League Draft will take place on Thursday, November 5 at 7pm ET. Coverage of all eight rounds of the ninth-annual draft will air live on NBA TV.

The D-Fenders tip off their fourth season on Saturday, November 28 as they take on the Albuquerque Thunderbirds at 6pm at the Tingley Coliseum. The D-Fenders will host their first home game on Tuesday, December 1 versus the Utah Flash at 3:30pm at the Staples Center.
